Welcome to the official site of the Association of Boxing Commissions, "ABC". The ABC draws its membership from state and tribal combative sports commissions from the United States and Canada. I hope you will find this website a useful tool to you which provides information on the regulation of combative sports in the US and Canada. Contact information for each member athletic commission of the ABC can be found on this website. I hope that you enjoy the new look to our website.
We have recently added a new link to our website which directs you to the American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians website which recently updated the medical requirements for each commission in the United States and Canada. If you are a boxer over the age of 35, please contact the individual commissions for additional medical requirements.
The annual convention in New Orleans was a huge success. It was well attended by over 130 commissioners and guests. This year the membership and guests heard from several committees which completed task over the last year. The major discussion surrounded unified rules for mixed martial arts. The membership adopted unified rules which can be found under documents on the website.
The ABC signed a three year contract with MMA, LLC, (www.mixedmartialarts.com) to be the official mixed martial arts record keeper of the ABC. Several new features have been developed since the commission that you will want to check out like obtaining a list of all amateur and professional events that have occurred within your jurisdiction. We will strive to continue to improve the database.
Please mark your calendar for the 2010 convention to be held July 18 – 22, 2010, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year the membership will be meeting Sunday – Wednesday in attempt to get 100% attendance by the membership as most events occurring in the United States and Canada are weekend events.
I hope that you will use this website as a quick information source regarding the regulation of combative sports in the United States and Canada. Please provide feedback to me regarding any suggested changes to make the website more user friendly.
Best of Luck,
Timothy J. Lueckenhoff
