Four renown fighters from boxing and mma spoke to the ABC Annual Conference at Mohegan Sun. Evander Holyfield opened the Monday session by talking about a new boxing venture and then posed for photos with members.
On Tuesday afternoon, Irish Mickey Ward helped narrate the video of the Ward-Gatti fight from 2002 dubbed “Fight of the Century” along with Dick Flaherty and Steve Weisfeld who had been present as judges. Ward concluded the fight highlights by speaking truthfully about his injuries sustained in boxing and how he deals with them daily.
On Wednesday morning, Gary Goodridge, former MMA legend gave a brutally frank presentation about the brain damage suffered through 80 professional fights.
And at the banquet Wednesday evening, Pito Cardona addressed the attendees with grace and humor about his boxing career. The keynote speaker on July 26, 2017 just after dinner was Kathy Duva, boxing promoter and CEO of Main Events Boxing who showed video and spoke of the boxing greats that have fought for Main Events over the decades.
The 2018 Conference will be held in Orlando at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort.
