Downed Fighter Life Support (DFLS) 4 hours
How to recognize and manage the critically injured or ill combat sports athlete. As a Team. The first few minutes of managing a life-threatening emergency can determine the ultimate outcome. This course covers the do’s and don’ts of managing the downed fighter. It will cover the most likely injuries and medical emergencies that result in the unresponsive athlete. Using real scenarios, the attendee will better understand their role in the critical first few minutes. From venue preparation to specific fighter care, interacting with EMS and crowd management. It is a combination of lecture, video review, and hands-on simulation. This is intended for all members of the commission team; Deputies, Commissioners, Referees, Inspectors, Cut People, and Physicians.
Bare Knuckle Medicine: 2 hours
Bare Knuckle Fighting is the fastest growing combat sport of the last few years. There are significant differences in the approach to injuries compared to more traditional combat sports. This course covers the medical considerations in managing the bare-knuckle athlete. It is critical to know the facial anatomy and lacerations or other injuries that should stop a bout. It is a combination of lecture and video review with audience participation. It is geared towards Referees, Inspectors, Cut People, and Physicians.
